Post Becoming an ESL teacher....without a degree?
Is it possible to really make a living as an esl teacher, without a university degree?
I have bachelor's degrees in business and spanish. but i feel that the business world is boring and wish i had majored in english like i considered before...but done is done.
Is it possible to make a successful living without a degree...as in, creating a decent savings account and retirement plan and insurance and such...without a degree? Or would I have to go back to school to get a serious job?

if you have a bachelor's degree, start working now, then you can take credits on line to complete your master's degree. It would never be the same amount of money compare with business, but if teaching makes you happy, go for it!!

For certification in a teaching field, there are required courses that one must take and pass in order to teach in the field. And, not only pass the coursework but pass a certification examination also in many states (if not all of them).

You have two BA degrees! Do you only want to
teach in the west or are you willing to travel. You
might just as well travel? If ESL teaching is your passion,
teaching jobs abound in Asia for those with BA's and/or
BS's in any subject.

South Korea, Japan, and Taiwan have the best offers.
South Korea has, in my opinion, the best overall package.

Seoul is a city with 10 million people and a fantastic
public transportation system and cheap restaurants.
Why wait? South Korean private or public schools
(you choose) will pay for your round-trip airfare,
your apartment, half your health insurance,
half your pension, and take out only 3-5% of your
income for taxes. What are you waiting for?

You might be able to teach with a provisional certificate and go to school to get the degrees you need while working. My daughter needed to do this to teach special ed for classes she didn't take while getting her Master's degree. You generally have a limited time to complete the necessary course work.
