I'm non native speaker. I started learning english when I was
9. (now I'm 15)Still , I can't speak english very well. Also when I watch movie , l can only understand about 20% of it. even though I went to Canada about 6 months.
I want to speak english as like my first language.
Please give me some advice to improve my poor english skill.

practice in front of the mirror. read as much books as you can to get a better understanding of them. say words over and over that you have problems speaking out loud.

1.Do a lot of conversation especially with the native speaker.
2.Listen to the english songs and learn to sing it.(you must listen to the lyrics pronunciation carefully)
3.Watch movie.Not only watch but also repeat every dialogue in the movie.in here you must listen to the intonation and pronunciation carefully.Repeat it with the same intonation and pronunciation as the actor/actress did.
4.Chatting will improve your english a lot.
5.Read books or news.It helps you to know more new vocabularies.

6) Listen to English Music
7) Read English Bible and Your language Bible Every Day...just compare with your language and understand the meaning.

10) Record Yourself
11) Listen to English
12) Write to your friends and relatives
Now you are perfect in English....you need atleast 1 year to complete this process to be perfect.

I'm english, i'm 14.

-I know what you mean, its like you want to speak FLUENT English.
-Just like i want to speak FLUENT GERMAN & NORWEGIAN & FRENCH.

I have two (2) online norwegian friends, every day i just talk to them and if i don't understand things, they tell me and i try to remember. I also ask them how to say things that i want to know: numbers...common words...etc!

I learn french in school, i have now for 3 years. But i'm almost just as good as Norwegian than french! and i haven't been taught Norwegian professionally!

As for German, i haven't quite worked on that! XD

FOR ADVICE?
I would say watch more English movies, get an english dictionary. But then, if you think about it, you don't want to spend all your money on that kind of stuff.
I could always help you as my Norwegian friends help me, i don't mind, and i'm online most of the time when i get back from school anyway. I'm a 14 year old girl that lives in London. I'd be happy to help, only if you want though!

(Online/books help better than listening to music or watching tv, as you begin to recognise correct grammar aswell as speech!)

Well, going to Canada should have help you... but it depends on how independent you were in that country, I mean, U need to talk with people get to know the culture, by yourself.. I did when I was in US, but I used to live in a county where everyone was english speaker. So I have to communicate, and it helps me a lot.

Try to make friends, talk on the phone with them, ask for some patience.... and you'll see that after a while you won't need to do it anymore. Helps you watch the movies with the subtitles at the beginning because not all the language used in the movies is easy to understand...like the ones with the street language. Good luck.

go to a speach therapist, they help u with pronounciations, learning words and stuff like that.
