Hockey pictures, books on hockey, stories about the Montreal Canadiens. Books dealing with Canadian or Quebec history or high interest but low english vocabulary stories.

Getting a picture file , magazines, newspapers, even photographs that they have taken and have them tell a story about that picture or write a story about that picture.

use practical exercises that apply to everyday life. Cars, shopping, socializing. Their home towns, food, culture
I would love to work in that field. Can you give me any pointers?

Spell to Write and Read is a curriculum that can be used to teach ESL. Wanda Sanseri is the author. I know she has a yahoogroup which you might want to join in order to get some ideas. There are several trainers including the author on the yahoogroup.
My initial idea is to get them to learn the phonetic sounds of the alphabet and then get them to quiz each other with flash cards...it will get them interacting with one another.

Photocopy the singles colomn from the newspaper. It's great to learn how to describe someone physically . I suppose if they are second semester though they'll already be able to do that. Oh well its a suggestion anyway!

Post Music in the EFL/ESL classroom
Hi Everyone!

I am currently studying for my Masters degree and I would like to collect some information from EFL/ESL Teachers and students. My dissertation topic focuses on 'Exploring the use of music in the EFL/ESL classroom' All the collected information will be kept confidentially. It would be fantastic if you would like to take part in this project, it will only take you 5 minutes to complete!

Thank you very much in advance for your support!

Hi! Good luck on your dissertation!

I am not a native English speaker, but I have a lot of foreign friends who can only speak English so I mostly use English to communicate with them. I am also an ESL teacher, I teach mostly Koreans. I use general entertainment talk (about music, movies in Hollywood or in Korea) and also basic conversational skills when they go to the market or even to the mall. I also give them vocabulary building assignments.
