Post Thinking of moving to Phnom Penh-Advice?
Im thinking of moving to cambodia, how easy is it to find work (teaching english, etc.)? (have TEFL cert., 1+ yr exp)Would like to find work in childcare at international schools or public schools, is that possible (have 2+ yrs exp)? also what are modest accomodations like there i.e. apartments? Is it easy to get a phone number? Any advice, on anything really, would be helpful

I think that it's relatively easy to do all the above that you mention. Being that you speak English and come from America, you will have the upperhand when it comes to employment. Yes, most people who go over there work with NGOs and love it because the accomodations are very cheap. Internationals school are making big showing in Cambodia because Cambodia is making a lot of International business. Korea is even building a city there, so I am pretty sure that you can find a job at an International school. Plus there are a lot of foreigners (even weathly upperclass Cambodians) there who put there children in International schools.

Apartment ranges from what your needs are. A basic apartment with your basic nessesities will run you about 100-150 US to the best where it's about 2-3,000.

When it comes to phones, most Cambodians have cell phones where they buy the phone ranging from 100-thousands for the best phones and buy a sim card which is anywhere between 20-100 US dollars, and just keep refilling their sims as needed. An actual LAN line will cost you about 50-75 a month to have. With this option you can get Internet at home instead of having to go to Internet cafes. Internet is another 50 dollars or so.

I would reccomend that you look into the jobs before you make arrangements to move there permanently or visit to see if you like the weather and if you have all that you need there to live on.

am cambodian, living in cambodia,

many many foreigner come here and earn money by teaching english at school, or join any non profit NGO and they dont want to go back cos everything in Cambodia is cheap, easy to live, no difficult rule....the worst you dont want to involve is being accused of having sex with children. in Phnom Penh you can find appartment start from 500$ up to 3000$.
everything here is easy.... easy to live, to find money, safe so how come it is difficult to get a phone number and other stuff.
you are a native english speaker or other nation ?
