more ppl in the world speak mandarin. or for people who aren't chinese, the learn mandarin instead of canto because it's easier. cantonese is mostly only like, hong kong- mandarin, is like china, taiwan.. etc.

If you go to Hong Kong, Mandarin is heard more nowadays than Cantonese

first off im so glad ur learning it.
and it really depends on where u live. if u live in the usa then try madarin. for me i know both. (Mandarin is easier a bit and is more spoken around the world.)
