I'm really sick of that.
Why can't there be a third radio button for reporting an answer if the person is just trying to correct grammar and has NOTHING to do with answering the question?!

I have no idea why people do that. I'm a huge grammar police person myself, but I do fight back the urge to correct people. (Though it is hard sometimes. /smile)
Hopefully, the person who ends up buying out Yahoo will fix this place up for the better.

I suppose you could report them if you feel compelled. If their reply violates the Q&A guidelines, report it. If it isn't an answer it's a vio.
Don't get offended, because what I say might sound harsher than I intend it. I think it happens because we are communicating in writing here in cyberspace. If someone isn't communicating effectively they might as well be speaking a foreign language. People get just as frustrated with trying to translate things as you do being the victim of their frustration.
And, no, I don't rag on others' grammar.

I agree that people should leave the spelling thing alone. If someone is just going to try to correct someone, they, should do it tastefully. Rather than out and out say something hurtful, try to say, in a respectful way, that maybe you didn't quite understand the question, and answer it to the best of your ability, and say "I hope I helped you, it was a bit difficult to understand your wording."
I don't know, something like that anyway.

You seem to have fairly adequate grammar skills, lol.
I only comment if I cannot understand the question being asked. (Which happens frequently!) Otherwise they are just nit-picking, and will probably suffer from a heart attack and/or high blood pressure from their extreme anal personalities.
EDIT: ooooh looks like we have a grammar guru among us handing out thumbs downs!!!

I only do that if the question sounds retarded because of it. Stupid people drive me nuts!

Agreed, I know sone of the questions are awful. It is sometimes necessary to ask for clarification but some people are just bloody rude. Learn English is not an answer, in many cases it's obviously a second language. Give people a chance. I do try to use correct grammar and spelling ( fussy old fart) but I don't try to impose my ways on everyone.Have a good day.
