 Working Abroad?
I am an esl teacher but not a native speaker. How can I work abroad teaching? Most of the website hiring ask for native speakers only.
Thanks

 Re: Working Abroad?
If you have a teaching liscense or credentials from any state you can teach at the Department of Defense Dependant School system overseas. They are American schools on U.S. military bases around the world. My children attended two DOD schools. One in Iceland and one is Spain. Both of these schools offered an ESL program. I don't know about being a native speaker. The ESL teacher at the DOD school in Spain was natively bilingual (in English and Spanish). I think a near-native proficiency may be enough. The only caveat is you have to be liscensed to teach ESL (in any state) to work for the DOD schools overseas. Their website is listed below in the "source" box.
